Hola! My name is Victor but you might know me better by my Instagram name: @ve_doble. I’m a professional photographer, audiovisual producer and drone pilot. I was born in the city of Lima but currently live in Huaraz, a city in the Ancash region of Peru. Welcome to my blog on Laguna Paron!
I recently visited Laguna Paron, the largest lake in the Cordillera Blanca, and it was such a special trip. A photographer friend of mine took us, since he thought that it would be a beautiful place to meet during his travels.
It was fantastic going there with friends but I bet joining a tour would be great too. When we arrived, the first word that came to my mind was: imposing! The viewpoints that you can hike to offer incredible vantage points of this lake – the largest lake in the Cordillera Blanca. And it only takes about 40 minutes to get to the famous view found between rocks.
The lake has a turquoise color and is located at the foot of the Cordillera Blanca and the Nevado Artesonraju (look at the Paramount Pictures Studios logo and see if you can recognize the same mountain). This breathtaking lagoon, like many Ancash routes, is becoming more and more popular thanks to social media stars, photographers, vloggers and the like.
Tips for Visiting Laguna Paron, Peru
Laguna Paron is located about three hours from the city of Huaraz in the province of Huaylas. The road to get there is bumpy because it’s far but remember that it’s well worth the effort for the sheer beauty of the lagoon.
Most people arrive at the lagoon from Huaraz but you could also stay in the town of Caraz if you would like. Another option is to go camping near the lagoon. However, this is more suited for experienced hikers/campers. You would need to have the right gear and equipment, since you would be right at the foot of snowy mountains at 4,200 meters above sea level.
Sleeping in front of this lagoon, and the mountain peaks surrounding it, would be a once in a lifetime experience. You would be able to appreciate the wonders of Peru’s natural beauty for hours on end, as you breathe in that icy air and feel the wind in your hair. It’s simply invigorating! Thanks for reading everyone and enjoy your visit to Laguna Paron.
