Travel to Thailand!

The mere mention of Thailand travel evokes thoughts of paradise. Blessed with some of the most beautiful islands and beaches in the world, places like Phi Phi Islands and Phuket have become staples on the Southeast Asian travel circuit. Yet this country offers so much more than lying on a beach or drinking the night away at a Full Moon Party. It’s the colour and spirit of this majestic nation that really draws you in. The texture and flavour of the food is mind-blowing and the golden temples (some tucked away in caves while others are literally built on top of mountains) are nothing short of awe-inspiring. All of this beauty is enriched even more from the smiles of the wonderful Thai people that you meet everyday.

All Thailand adventures begin in the buzzing capital city of Bangkok. The best description for Bangkok would be: a mix of the divine and disgraceful all rolled into one. Buddhist monks and gold-spired temples provide a spiritual sanctuary around every corner, all while X-rated parties rage on from dusk till dawn. It’s a city of never-ending contrasts, fun and flavours. The street-food is out-of-this-world good. It can be an intense experience – with food so spicy that it’ll raise a few eyebrows. Nevertheless, the combination of spicy, sour, sweet and salty is simply divine. Bangkok is arguably the best food destination on the planet! Finger-lickin’ dishes such as Pad See Eiw, Pad Kra Pao and Kluay Tod make for an invigorating experience.

The north of Thailand is where you’ll find jungles, mountains and a few hidden gems. This region transports you back to what Thailand was like 30-40 years ago before mass tourism. In Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, you can still stumble upon peaceful Buddhist stupas and waterfalls to enjoy all by yourself. The hill tribes in northern Thailand have to be one of the highlights of the country. Many of them migrated from different parts of China and Southeast Asia more than eight centuries ago, bringing with them an array of customs, dress, laws and beliefs – predominately animism. The Karen, Hmong and Lahu are some of the most prominent hill tribes. So if it’s culture you’re after, make sure you point your compass north.
