Welcome to my El Salvador travel guide! I’m Chelo – a 31 year old living in Charlottesville, Virginia. My background is Dominican but I didn’t grow up speaking Spanish. My passion for travel started after I studied abroad in Spain in 2014 and since then I haven’t been able to stop traveling!
A few years ago, I had an idea to share my travel passion with people from around the world. So I started a group trip business called Instrumental Trips. Since my name is pronounced like an instrument (cello), it was a very simple name to come up with. Today, my tours go to amazing places such as Portugal, Vietnam, Guatemala and (of course) El Salvador.
El Salvador – The Next Hotspot
I first visited the country of El Salvador back in 2020, I believe. Since then, I have been a total of 10 separate times now! My favorite experiences when I visit El Salvador are enjoying the beautiful beaches, hiking the volcanoes, making new friends with the local people and eating the incredible cuisine.
Not too long ago, El Salvador was a place that if you mentioned it as a country to visit people would’ve called you crazy. It was deemed the most dangerous country on earth but recently it has undergone a 180 degree shift in terms of safety. Nowadays, you can enjoy the culture, cuisine, coffee, landscapes and more in a safe environment. I think the progression and story behind it is what makes it an even more special place to visit!
