Obrigada! We are Gaia and Nanda – the duo behind Mala de Aventuras. Welcome to our travel guide on the most beautiful beaches in Brazil.
We both grew up in Petropolis, a city in the mountains of Brazil close to Rio de Janeiro. Since our hometown is surrounded by the Mata Atlantica forest, we’ve developed this passion for hiking and going on outdoor adventures.
Mala de Aventuras was the outlet we found to share hidden places (not only in Brazil but around the world) with our fellow Brazilians. The website was founded in 2013 while Gaia was doing an academic exchange in Australia. That was the trigger moment when we decided to build the blog.
Why Brazil should be on your Bucket-List
Brazil is a massive country with a continental size. It’s so diverse in culture and in its environment. I bet many foreigners haven’t even heard of places such as Jalapao, Chapada das Mesas and Canion do Itaimbezinho.
These amazing places are just a few of the most stunning landscapes that are still relatively unknown (even for locals). The people of Brazil are always welcoming wherever you go. Although, the language can be an issue. Very few people speak English, French, Spanish or any other language.
Nevertheless, if you’re okay with that, then just come to Brazil and see how much of the country you can explore. We love traveling around our country but we have a long way to go until we explore every place on our bucket-list. Our travels have taken us to around 50% of the Brazilian states.
So out of 27, we have visited 13. We can’t wait to see Jalapao, Capitolio and Canion do Itaimbezinho, among many other beautiful destinations!
10 Most Beautiful Beaches in Brazil
Brazil is definitely a place to go when you think about amazing beaches. There are some stunning urban beaches such as Ipanema in Rio de Janeiro but both of us are more into the wild beaches across Brazil. Below you will find our Top 10 most beautiful beaches in Brazil:
1. Ponta do Corumbau, Prado (Bahia)
Our number one beach is the amazingly beautiful and unique Ponta do Corumbau. This beach is located in the northeast of Brazil and is a relatively unknown and untouched area of the country. You can walk out onto a long sandbar which peaks out from the point. Totally unique and beautiful!
2. Morere Beach, Ilha de Boipeba (Bahia)
Ilha de Boipeba in Bahia is an island with no cars, nothing to eat but seafood and many beaches to discover. Morere beach is one of the best of the island – home to palm trees, crystal clear waters and stunning white sands. The village of Morere is also a charming spot worth a visit.
3. Quarta Praia, Morro de Sao Paulo (Bahia)
Morro de Sao Paulo is a rugged and beautiful village on the northeastern tip of Tinhare Island in Bahia. There are a series of beaches here, the best being Quarta Praia. Enjoy sunbathing and swimming at this palm-tree fringed beach as well as soaking up the atmosphere of the village.
4. Praia do Espelho, Caraiva (Bahia)
The 4th beach on our list of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil truly is a stunner! It was even voted as the best beach in Brazil in 2009. Praia do Espelho is close to the beautiful Porto Seguro on the Bahian coast and is home to lush nature, golden sands and incredibly blue water!
5. Praia do Rosa, Imbituba (Santa Catarina)
Located 15km from Garopaba in Santa Catarina lies the gorgeous Praia do Rosa. This beach stretches for 3 kilometers and is backed by small sand dunes and outcrops of lush forest. Not only is the beach awesome but the local people here are environmentally conscious and love to surf!
6. Guarda do Embau, Palhoca (Santa Catarina)
This beach in Palhoca, Santa Catarina is a little slice of paradise for those looking for some peace away from city-life. It’s also a popular spot for surfers and bodyboarders. Part of the adventure here is that you have to swim or take a boat across the Madre river to reach the beach!
7. Ilha do Campeche, Florianopolis (Santa Catarina)
Ilha do Campeche is the very definition of a Brazilian paradise! It’s located southeast of Florianopolis. The island has an abundance of nature as well as beautiful beaches. Combine the fascinating history of the island with its prehistoric cave inscriptions and you have yourself an epic destination.
8. Praia Retiro dos Padres, Bombinhas (Santa Catarina)
The final beach of Santa Catarina we recommend is Praia Retiro dos Padres in Bombinhas. Unlike most beaches of Bombinhas, this beach has rough seas but the water is still crystal clear and the sand is nice. Surrounded by the Atlantic Forest – you will feel immersed in nature here.
9. Pontal do Atalaia Beach, Arraial do Cabo (Rio de Janeiro)
This beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil and the entire world. It has become an Instagram sensation in recent years and it’s easy to see why. The stairs leading down to the beach make for a unique little entrance. Waters here are crystal clear and the sands are soft on foot.
10. Praia do Jabaquara, Paraty (Rio de Janeiro)

Best Coastal Accommodation in Brazil
Casa Bobo in Boipeba provides a unique experience for those who like eco-travel. Another nice place is B.Side in Rio. Far from the famous postcards, there are some amazing beaches in the west region of Rio. Barra de Guaratiba is my favourite place and the hotel I recommend is Tugas SUP.
Enjoy the Seafood Delights of Brazil
Brazilian food is diverse. If you go to the north you’ll have a completely different food experience than if you go to the south. In Bahia, you should try Moqueca: a seafood stew slowly cooked with shrimp or fish as the base!
What you Need to Know Before you Go
It’s not easy to find people that speak your language. So you need a Google Translator with you at all times. I think that’s the main difficulty for foreigners planning a trip to the most beautiful beaches of Brazil.
Safety is something to be aware of as well. It’s always important to keep your eyes open – whether you’re in the city or relaxing at a beach town. Brazil is full of smiling and caring people, so you shouldn’t have to worry.
Thanks for reading our guide on the most beautiful beaches of Brazil. We hope you get to visit some of these paradise beaches soon 🙂
