We are Ana & Glauber from Bem na Estrada – a couple of entrepreneurs from the interior of Rio Grande do Sul, in the south of Brazil. Welcome to our Argentina road trip article! We decided to live a little more of life, to collect moments and not things. When the pandemic hit, we realized that we worked too hard in our companies and didn’t have time to enjoy life.
So we thought it would be an incredible idea to sell our assets and dedicate ourselves to a project: traveling the Americas by motorhome, documenting all of our experiences along the way to inspire others to fulfill their dreams.
Inspiration to Take an Argentina Road Trip
Argentina is one of the countries that we have visited on this journey. It’s a beautiful country full of unique attractions. When we decided to set off on our Argentina road trip, we wanted to show the people of Brazil that it’s possible to travel through wonderful destinations that are close to home.
What it’s Like Cruising Across Argentina
On our trip we stopped by El Calafate and the Perito Moreno Glacier, El Chalten and the formidable Fitz Roy mountain, as well as heading across the north to discover the Salinas Grandes, Purmamarca, Ruta 40 and Cafayate. It was a fantastic experience and one that we highly recommend!
In total, we traversed about 10,000 kilometers. Our motorhome is fully equipped with energy and a reservoir of 280 liters of water, in addition to a kitchen, bed, bathroom and hot shower. We basically have everything we need to travel in comfort as we explore the world on various road trips.
We found the roads to be in excellent condition. They are well maintained with regular upkeep. The landscapes are epic – from towering mountains to dense forests to pristine lakes. Each destination was special but we thoroughly enjoyed the Perito Moreno Glacier, Route of the Seven Lakes and San Martin de los Andes, El Calafate and Refugio Frey in Bariloche.
The best cities to stay at on an Argentina road trip are Salta, Tilcara, Cafayate, El Chalten, El Calafate, Villa La Angostura, Mendoza and Bariloche. In San Martin de los Andes, the Route of the Seven Lakes and in Bariloche Chapelco and Villa Traful have some of the most spectacular landscapes.
Our favorite memory from our Argentina road trip is not just one place but all the moments we had: the people we met and the moments we experienced. We drove our motorhome through enchanting roads, made new friends and went wild camping in breathtaking places. Argentina is an extraordinary country with a fabulous culture and welcoming people.
Tips for your Argentina Road Trip
When organizing your trip, choose the best time of year: from November to April. This way you will see snow but it won’t be too cold. You might also see trees in unique colors. Another tip is to book hotels and tours in advance in order to secure good prices. To exchange money, use the Western Union app. In the smaller communities, credit or debit cards aren’t widely accepted.
