The islands of Greece have been a holiday destination for generations of lads before us. They were on to something. Here on these Mediterranean isles, you can get everything a group holiday needs. On a budget? No problem. Want some luxury? Sorted. Find the right island for you here.
Corfu is Reinventing Itself
Families used to flock to Corfu for their summer holidays. In the last few years, Corfu has begun to reinvent itself as a young person’s party destination. The reason is simple: young people want to spend a lot of money on travel these days. That doesn’t mean it’s expensive to stay there though. Drinks are cheap in Kavos, the island’s party town. There are some of the best beaches in Greece nearby too.
Going on a lad’s holiday in the sun may be a call for some self-reinvention. If you want to get your body beach-ready meal replacement shakes are a healthy and straightforward way to do it. Shakes are a good food choice if you are always on the go, helping you stick to proper mealtimes and avoid fast food and snacks.
Rhodes is a Classic Greek Party Island
This island is one of the best Greek destinations if you are looking for nightlife and a good party. You can find a bar open somewhere all day and night in the summer season. Faliraki is the main resort town on the island. There are plenty of other boys and girls on their summer holidays here. You can party all day and night on the main strip.
Bars stay open until the sun comes up and other bars are opening for breakfast. It never ends. It is a popular island with groups of young people. There are areas on the island for families, but Faliraki is not one of them. Expect some crazy nights out that you might not remember well.
Zante Offers Parties and Adventure
The beautiful island of Zante has been well-developed for tourists over the years and has lots to see and do. It can be a more expensive destination, but you get a lot for your money. You will find plenty of Instagram-ready sights all around the island. There are some gorgeous beaches and hidden coves across its coastline.
Boat parties are a big deal here and there is a lot for you to choose from. These parties can get a little wild, so you and the boys need to prepare yourselves for some long and boozy nights out on boats.
Crete lets you Balance Partying with Relaxation
The town of Malia is party central on any evening. Head a little out of town and you can find some peace and quiet to relax and recover in. Like Rhodes, there is always a large contingent of young holidaymakers on the island. Lots of groups of girls and boys come here looking for summer fun. The main strip in Malia is lined with bars that play lots of different types of music. There is a bar here for everyone.
When you need a recovery day you can find peace and quiet somewhere on the island’s long stretch of coastline. Crete is great for day trips to other islands with daily ferries to nearby Greek islands and Athens if you want to see more of the Med.
Mykonos has Something for Everyone
If you are travelling with a diverse group of lads, you need to find an island with a little something for everyone. Mykonos is the one you are looking for. There is nightlife and natural beauty all within easy reach. The beaches and bars are usually populated by a good mix of people and age groups. Moreover, there are plenty of luxury villa rentals in Mykonos that your group can book.
Mykonos has a thriving gay scene, with gay bars and clubs dotted around the island and a few in Mykonos Town. This is definitely a less intense place than Faliraki or Zante. With a slightly older crowd, things are a bit more laid back and relaxed. You can still dance until dawn every night. Groups that want a full-on lad’s holiday should look elsewhere.
Discover the Island of Ios
Ios is a mysterious island because so few have even heard of it. When Greeks on the mainland want to take a trip to an island, they choose Ios. They have been keeping it a secret. The bar and club scene sits somewhere between Corfu’s craziness and the laid-back pace of Mykonos. The town of Chora is where the action is, as well as a fantastic beach. You can drink until sunrise at many of the cocktail bars that have views of the coast.
Near Chora, there are more secluded and peaceful beaches than the one in town. These might be handy if you are nursing a hangover. Chora’s main beach gets busy, and noisy too. Now, we have reached the end. The Greek islands have every type of holiday you can think of. The only problem is getting everyone to agree on which one to go to.
