Hi, my name is Vera and welcome to my mini guide for Valldemossa – a cute town in Mallorca. Besides my full time job as a content marketer at a travel agency, I run my own travel blog and Instagram (@tripadvera).
I was born and raised in a small town in the south of the Netherlands and moved to a bigger city at the age of 18. When I was younger, I was blessed to travel to many places in Europe with my family in our caravan. Spain, France, Italy and Croatia – I have seen it all!
When I finished my bachelor’s degree at the age of 21, I wanted to travel more. So I jumped on a plane to backpack through Asia for five weeks and this place stole my heart. Eight months later, I went back for another round of nine and a half weeks in Southeast Asia and that is the moment I realized I absolutely had to see more of the world!
Four Lovely Days in Mallorca
Last summer, my boyfriend and I were looking for a nice destination in Spain to add to our road trip through the Costa Brava. We wanted to do something special and were thinking about adding the island of Mallorca. It’s not the first destination that comes to mind when you think about traveling by car because, obviously, it’s an island and the easiest way to get there is by plane! But that wasn’t our plan.
We took the ferry from Barcelona to Mallorca and were ready to explore the island with our own car. Small towns, gorgeous bays, crystal clear waters and mountains with the prettiest views – Mallorca has something for everyone! That is why I highly recommend hiring a car to explore the whole island.
Since we were only here for four days (yes I know, way too short), we had to make some decisions about which places we wanted to visit. We ended up exploring Palma de Mallorca, visited several bays (Cala Figuera, Cala Santanyi and Cala Llombards) on the east side of Mallorca and wandered through Valldemossa.
Why Valldemossa is Such a Magical Town
Did you know that Valldemossa is part of the UNESCO world heritage list? This town has the prettiest little streets and the general atmosphere is very laid back. What really surprised me was that it’s quite a popular place but when you are wandering through the small streets, you barely see other people!
Of course it would be nice to stay here for a few nights but because it’s just a small town, it’s not necessary. However, you should definitely visit Valldemossa when you are in Mallorca as it’s without a doubt one of the cutest little towns I have visited in a while.
Tips for Visiting Valldemossa
- Valldemossa is full of photogenic streets, my favorite was Carrer de na Buger
- For lunch you should visit Sa Cova for delicious food and a nice view
- The entrance of Hotel Sa Vall is my favorite viewpoint, the best way to get there is by car
- Visit the monastery Cartoixa de Valldemossa
- Try the local specialty Coco de Patata at Panaderia Pasteleria Ca’n Molinas
The easiest way to get to Valldemossa is by car. It takes about 30 minutes from Palma to get there. Another easy way is by bus – take bus 203 from Palma to Port de Soller and get off at Valldemossa! Another great way to get around is to take the authentic train from Palma to Soller and from there a taxi to Valldemossa.
Mallorca is a very popular island and can be busy during the high season. Because the island has a Mediterranean climate, there will be hot summers and soft winters. For this reason, it’s also very nice to visit Mallorca during spring or autumn. When you plan to visit Valldemossa, definitely bring something to drink and your camera – it’s so beautiful! Thanks for reading! It would mean a lot to me if you could follow my travels through my website: (www.tripadvera.nl).
