Hi travellers, we are Olga and Dimosthenis from Nonstop Travellers. We grew up in Greece and used to dream about discovering our beautiful planet in a minivan. While we still haven’t ticked that off our bucket-list, we have travelled to some amazing places and even started our own blog.
Luckily, we don’t have to travel too far to find beautiful destinations. Our home country of Greece is bursting with history and natural beauty. The Greek Islands, for example, are a stunning collection of places that we both adore. Milos in the Cyclades is one of those breathtaking islands.
Four Beautiful Days in Milos
It’s hard to describe the uniqueness and incomparable beauty of Milos. This island was ranked the top island destination in Europe in 2019 and it’s easy to see why. We recently had the pleasure of exploring Milos for four days as part of our island-hopping trip and we saw it all!
Sarakiniko Beach, Paralia Papafragkas, Mandrakia Beach, Fyriplaka Beach, Kleftiko Beach, syrmata boat houses, traditional taverns and almost every village were some of the incredible spots we experienced. We also went on a few day cruises and enjoyed walking and trekking around the island.

10 Best Things To Do in Milos
The best place in Milos for us was Sarakiniko Beach. Just picture a beach with unique rock formations in a white/grey colour that resembles a lunar landscape. It was an extraordinary visit but we also loved many other places. Below you can find our top recommendations for Milos.
1. Swim at the Beautiful Sarakiniko Beach
If you’ve only seen one photo of Milos it was probably of Sarakiniko Beach – easily one of the most spectacular Milos beaches and a unique natural wonder of Greece. Here you can roam around the white volcanic rock formations, jump off into the crystal clear waters and take photos. The perfect spot to cool off on a hot summer day!

2. Go Cliff-Jumping at the Secluded Kleftiko Beach
Kleftiko Beach is located in the southwest corner of Milos. The beach is secluded and far away from any major towns. You can drive there (if you’ve rented a car) or join a sailing trip on a boat from Adamas Port to the beach. Once you’ve arrived you can enjoy cliff-jumping and swimming!

3. Take a Boat Excursion to the Glaronisia Islets
Glaronisia is a complex of small islets located just off the northern coast of Milos from Papafragas Beach. You can reach these islets by joining a boat excursion. Sail through beautiful waters and encounter unique volcanic rock formations that sprout out of the sea. Definitely a unique experience.
4. Discover Papafragas Beach and Caves
Papafragas Beach is another must-see beach in Milos offering visitors wild beauty. Highlights include a rectangular-shaped cove surrounded by cliffs and natural caves. You can go swimming in the idyllic waters, explore the amazing caves and sunbathe on the unique rock formations.
5. Watch a Romantic Sunset in the Capital, Plaka
Plaka is the capital of Milos and is a charming village situated on the highest hill of the island. Wherever you go in Milos you can see this village and its famous castle hill. The location makes it the perfect place to take in a classic Greek Island sunset with your romantic partner.

6. Explore the Fishing Village of Mandrakia
Mandrakia is a small traditional fishing village located close to the popular Sarakiniko Beach. It’s a great place to stop for lunch and wander around the charming streets and port for the afternoon. Here you get the chance to meet local fishermen and learn about their amazing way of life on Milos.
7. Admire the Colourful Klima Fishing Village
Klima fishing village is like a painting. The colourful syrmata boathouse dwellings are truly amazing to see. This village differs from the traditional blue and white buildings of other Milos villages with its rainbow colours splashed on the doors, balconies and windows of the syrmatas.

8. Learn about History at the Catacombs of Milos
The Catacombs of Milos date back to the 1st century. These catacombs were used by early Christians as a burial site and later as a place of worship and refuge after persecution became rampant under the Romans. Today, they are considered an important site for Christians in Milos.
9. Day Trip from Milos to Kimolos Island
Kimolos is a lovely Cycladic Island that makes for a great day trip from Milos. The main activities on this island include swimming at the beaches and walking around the island. You can find a great beach next to the port or venture deeper into Kimolos to find secluded hidden gems. Choose from Milos boat rentals or excursions to best experience this paradise.

Trekking in the villages and volcanic areas of the island is an absolute must-do for nature-lovers and adventure-junkies. There are plenty of walks to choose from such as Adamas to Trypiti, Plaka to Kastro, Adamas to Phylakopi and many more walks which take you to hidden gems.

Favourite Memories from Milos
From watching a sunrise at Sarakiniko Beach to another beautiful sunset in Plaka, all of our memories in Milos were unforgettable. Perhaps the experience that moved us the most was when the official tourism board of Milos asked us for some footage of the island because they liked our work.
They hosted this footage in their official travel publications. This was an amazing honour for us. Another great memory was spending our evenings talking with our hostess Maria with her two adorable Maltese dogs. We hope you enjoy visiting Milos just as much as we did!
As a final tip, if you are coming to Milos from the nearby Sifnos, be sure to book Vip private island transfers – Sifnos Greece – with Sifnos Boat Rentals. They offer the best private boat transfers in the Cyclades.
