Welcome to my article on the best things to do in the beautiful town of Jupiter, Florida. My name is Carri Lager – I’m a private practice psychologist, photographer and mommy of two. I admire all art forms and play the piano and guitar. I love being outdoors, exploring the beauty of my area, attending concerts, plays and movies, and spending time with my family.
I grew up in south Florida going to the beach frequently with family and friends as well as spending some summers in New England. I have always been drawn to nature and water. My education as a psychologist took me around the US, from Florida to Chicago to New England.
While I loved living in northern climates, my husband had an opportunity to transfer to a job in Jupiter. Without hesitation, we jumped at the opportunity and moved down in 2008. I established my private practice here and two children later, we are still loving our tropical lifestyle.
Photography has been a passion of mine since I was a teenager. It provides me with a much needed creative outlet. I love that I am able to spread positivity through my work on social media by pairing serene images with motivational quotes. I’m constantly inspired by living in the “here and now” and by my lovely town of Jupiter. There is a picture around every corner.
Why Jupiter is such a Special Place
Jupiter is a little slice of paradise with gorgeous beaches, cool restaurants and bars that take full advantage of all the local views by the water, and we are one of the only dog-friendly towns in south Florida. We are surrounded by water in Jupiter: we have the historic Loxahatchee River, the Intracoastal Waterway and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean all within a few minutes.
There are many natural areas surrounding Jupiter that are well preserved and that offer nice walking trails. My favorite area is a place called the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Natural Outstanding Area. This is a scenic, off-road, hiking trail along the Intracoastal Waterway with spectacular views of several local mainstays: the Jupiter Lighthouse and Cato’s Bridge.

6 Best Things To Do in Jupiter
With all this natural beauty in Jupiter (of course) comes some amazing nature-based activities. You can experience everything from beautiful beaches to paddle boarding and kayaking adventures to amazing cuisine. There is something for everyone to enjoy in this happy seaside town. Below are my recommendations for the best things to do on your visit to Jupiter.
1. Take a Jupiter Lighthouse Tour for some History
Going on a Jupiter Lighthouse tour is a great way to learn about the local history of the area. You can follow this up with a long ascent up to the top of the Jupiter Lighthouse with one of the most spectacular views in Florida.

2. Have Dinner and Drinks at Guanabanas Restaurant
Guanabanas Restaurant is one of the coolest restaurants in the area with coastal breezes, palm trees swaying and live music by local artists. The location combined with the tropical cuisine makes it the ultimate waterfront dining destination in Jupiter. The seafood here is delicious!
3. Rent a Kayak from Blueline Surf & Paddle
Blueline Surf & Paddle is located across the street from Guanabanas Restaurant. Not only can you rent an assortment of gear here like kayaks and paddle boards, but you can also join one of their eco-tours, learn how to paddleboard on one of their lessons and attend a yoga class.

4. Eat at the Popular Little Moir’s Food Shack
Little Moir’s Food Shack (known as just the “Food Shack”) transports you to a tropical island where everything is going to be alright and the food, including the local catch, is amazing! This place has become an extremely popular spot for locals and travelers alike. Their slogan is: “from top scholar to blue collar. Food for all walks of life”. You will love the food on offer here!
5. Play Mini Golf at Lighthouse Cove Adventure Golf
A game of mini golf at Lighthouse Cove Adventure Golf followed by some yummy grub at the Burger Shack makes for a great afternoon! There are two courses to enjoy each with 18 holes and the courses have several water features and hills – making each round of mini golf an adventure.
6. Watch a Sunset at Coral Cove or Blowing Rocks
Coral Cove is a rugged stretch of coastline with incredible rock formations along the beach. Come here for sunset for a rocky good time! You can also have a rocky good time at Blowing Rocks Preserve which is home to sea caves, fantastic hiking opportunities and beautiful ocean views.

Need to Know Before you Go
For accommodation you can’t go past the Jupiter Beach Resort for a great location on the beach! The best time to visit is summer, which is actually the least busy time. Make sure you wear plenty of sunblock for those hot days. Travel to Jupiter to experience the beach, see turtles and immerse yourself in the strong sense of community that Jupiter is famous for!
