My name is Davide Anzimanni and welcome to my article on Florence. I’m 25 years old and work as a photographer and content creator. My passion for photography began six years ago when I first got my hands on an old camera. I started taking photos of everything and couldn’t stop!
As I grew up and took more photos, my passion grew stronger. I decided to study the theory of photography as a self-learner – sharing my shots on Instagram and beginning to travel more each year. Studying the art, posting photos and improving my style led to more followers.
Florence – One of my Favourite Italian Cities
One place that I love visiting in Italy is Florence. It’s one of my favourite Italian cities and is considered the birthplace of the Renaissance. When you walk through the streets and squares you feel this sense of history.
I have been to Florence a few times and every time I go back it’s like the first time. When I visit now (being older and more mature), I look at the city from a different perspective and always learn something new. Every time I go back I love getting lost in the streets and picking up new peculiarities.
I always seek a different photographic viewpoint or perspective in the city for my shootings. The Renaissance architecture that shines in the sunlight certainly is an indescribable gift to the human eye. For sure, Florence is an immortal city. I always search for the perfect shot that gives this place its due – one that represents the eternity which is breathable in the streets.
Best Things To Do in Florence
A stop at Osteria All’antico Vinaio to eat their typical Schiacciate is one of the best things to do in Florence. This famous restaurant was the most reviewed place on TripAdvisor in 2018. Another must eat food item in Florence is the famous steak – Bistecca alla Fiorentina. You can find this steak all over Italy but there is no comparison to eating it in Florence.
One of my favourite places is Piazza del Duomo as well as the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. The first time I visited this place I got so mesmerised looking at such beautiful architecture. A picture is not the same as seeing it in person! I was amazed to learn what man could accomplish.
Obviously, going to the Uffizi Gallery to look at the work of the most famous Renaissance artists is needed! Getting lost in those galleries and admiring the beauty of art is an experience I highly recommend. At the top of Uffizi is a lovely rooftop restaurant with a beautiful view over the city.
I always recommend a walk on Ponte Vecchio too – a stone arch bridge which is one the main icons. From here there is a unique view and lots of lovely spots to take photos. But my favourite place in all of Florence is without doubt Piazzale Michelangelo. Go there during sunset for a magical and breathtaking view of Florence. It will take your breath away!
Accomodation Options in the City
The best place to stay in Florence is the B&B – La Terrazza Sul Duomo Firenze. It’s a reasonably affordable place to stay even during the busy season. However, Florence is always beautiful. There is no season which is better than the other. Another great accommodation option is the “Window to the Duomo” Airbnb. It offers a wonderful view of the cathedral!
My Favourite Memory of Florence
One of my Florence pictures that I love most is the one portraying the air view of Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. I remember I was with my girlfriend and the previous summer we chose to do a tour of Tuscany. We arrived at the B&B La Terrazza Sul Duomo Firenze and then I understood why it was called that. The top floor had an amazing view! Enjoy 🙂
