The character was created by legendary artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, and was introduced in the 27th issue of the comic book Detective Comics. After 82 years, Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, continues to be one of the most popular superheroes in print and digital comic books, TV, and movies.
This year, actor Robert Pattinson has stepped into the shoes of one of the most coveted film characters in Hollywood. He is the seventh actor to play the Dark Knight in the Matt Reeves-directed movie “The Batman,” which was released in early March 2022, just in time for the superhero’s 82nd anniversary. But if you’re a true-blue Batman fan, celebrating 82 years of the Dark Knight doesn’t mean only watching “The Batman” in a movie theater.

Gotham City
Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi has its own version of Batman’s beloved town: Gotham City. This zone, which is one of the six lands in the theme park inspired by famous Warner Bros. animated TV shows and movie franchises, is an incredible reproduction of the city made famous by the Dark Knight.
It boasts an archaic, ominous skyline that foretells action-packed battles between Batman and his arch-nemeses. When you visit this zone, you can’t help but feel you’re a citizen of Gotham City and that you can be part of Batman’s thrilling adventures. The rides and attractions you’ll find in Gotham City are:
1. Batman: Knight Flight
If you have always been amazed by the Caped Crusader’s arsenal of high-tech vehicles, you’ll get the chance to test drive one on Batman: Knight Flight. You and your fellow passengers will test Batman’s latest prototype aircraft on this interactive attraction.
After an exciting launch from the Batcave, the aircraft will take you on a high-speed, heart-pounding ride over the streets of Gotham City. The ride is full of unexpected twists, turns, drops, and rolls as you patrol the city looking for trouble and anyone in need of help. Be prepared to engage in battle when you see any of Batman’s enemies.
2. The Riddler Revolution
With the Riddler making an appearance again in “The Batman,” you might want to try your hand at beating this enigmatic villain. You can do this at Riddler Revolution, an interactive roller coaster ride set in an abandoned warehouse in Gotham City’s Waterfront district.
To get out of this creepy place, you’ll have to solve a number of mind-bending puzzles and tricks while trying to stay glued to your seat as the coaster rocks and spins. The Riddler Revolution is one of the most exciting rides in Gotham City that will also give your brain an excellent workout.
3. Scarecrow: Scare Raid
Dr. Jonathan Crane, aka the Scarecrow, is one of Batman’s most diabolical archenemies. He uses experimental toxins and psychological tactics to exploit the greatest fears of his foes and victims. You can lend Batman a hand to fight the Master of Fear on Scarecrow: Scare Raid.
This attraction takes you through the Scarecrow’s most devilish and frightening psychological experiment. The ride starts with the coaster ascending a central column moving in a clockwise motion. Aside from this thrilling start, you’ll go through plenty of electrifying spins and barrel rolls.
4. The Joker Funhouse
The Joker is always on the lookout for recruits to join his gang of hooligans. If you want to try being a villain and be part of the Clown Prince of Crime’s goons, you’ll have to survive the Joker Funhouse. The Joker Funhouse is a funhouse that lets you experience a twisted interactive walk-through designed by the Clown Prince of Crime himself.
The funhouse is full of mind-boggling tricks, tests, and surprises, including a hall of mirrors, a labyrinth, a shrinking corridor, and a hallucination hallway. You’ll have to explore, climb, and slide through these attractions and other exciting sideshow-inspired rooms with tricky contraptions to prove you’re worthy of joining the Joker’s henchmen.
You’ll need both your brains and brawn to survive the physical and mental challenges conjured by the Joker to reach the end of the walk-through.
5. Rogues Gallery Games
If you want to play a variety of carnival games inspired by the world of Batman, head to the Gotham Pier, where you’ll find the Rogue Gallery Games. Try your hand at the Whac-A-Bat, Toxic Blast, and other classic carnival games with a twist.
You’ll have fun using your skills as you play these different games. Be on the lookout for Harley Quinn and Mr. Freeze as they roam around the pier, ready to stir up trouble.
Other Batman-Themed Attractions and Events
To celebrate 82 years of the Dark Knight, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi has designated March as its official Batman season. As such, aside from these year-round rides in Gotham City, the theme park has lined up several exciting Batman-themed shows and events. These include:
1. Batman Meet and Greet
You don’t have to go to the nearest Comic-Con to see, meet, and greet a real-life Batman. You’ll get the chance to do this at Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to take photos with and of the Dark Knight throughout your visit here.
2. Scarecrow Revenge
Watching Batman in action is an amazing treat you shouldn’t miss. This March, you’ll get the chance to see him fight some of his biggest enemies live in Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi’s Gotham City. See the Dark Knight go head-to-head against the Scarecrow, Riddler, and his other archenemies on Scarecrow Revenge, a live show happening daily this March.
3. Batmobile on Display
Get up close with the Dark Knight’s most famous and high-tech crime-fighting vehicle: the Batmobile. You’ll find an authentic replica of the Batmobile in the Gotham City zone, where you can take as many photos as you want with this legendary vehicle.
You can also watch The Joker Surprise Party, a nightly interactive show in which Harley Quinn tries to throw a surprise party for his “Puddin,” the Joker. Be wary, though, as you might become an unwilling pawn in her plans. During the month of March, you can also try your hand at arts and crafts by creating a unique mosaic of the Dark Knight. It’s a souvenir of your day in Gotham City that you’ll definitely cherish.
