For adventure seekers, there are few better holiday destinations than Australia. Australia’s incredible landscape makes it a unique destination and somewhere that is perfect for an action-packed trip. 2023 could also be the perfect time for a trip to the land down under as it is an amazing place to see the solar eclipse from.
The Eclipse
Excitement is building amongst eclipse chasers for the 2023 solar eclipse as this will be a unique hybrid eclipse that is part annular-total eclipse and part total solar eclipse, which means that the tip of the moon’s cone-shaped shadow will touch the earth and you see the “ring of fire” around the moon. This eclipse will take place on April 20th, 2023 across the Indian Ocean and will only be visible from Western Australia.
Many eclipse chasers will be heading to Western Australia in April of next year to enjoy around 62 seconds of totality, which is sure to be an incredible experience. Obviously, this is a long way to go for just one minute, but the good news is that Australia has plenty more to keep you entertained.
The Great Barrier Reef
Of course, the Great Barrier Reef is one of Australia’s main attractions and a stunning sight to behold. As one of the most diverse ocean habitats in the world, this is the perfect place for snorkelling and discovering this other world beneath the surface.
The Blue Mountains
The Blue Mountains are a breathtaking sight to behold in New South Wales, especially the iconic Three Sisters natural landmark. Echo Point Lookout is perhaps the best place to observe the Three Sisters and also a great starting point for many walks.
Uluru
Adventure holidays to Australia are not complete without a trip to Uluru. This massive sandstone monolith reaching 348 metres into the sky in the arid Red Centre in Northern Territory is an important landmark to indigenous Australians as somewhere where earth and memories exist as one.
Whitsunday Islands
Another fantastic experience in Australia is island-hopping the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland. There are 74 islands in total, 69 of which are uninhabited, so it is a great way to explore tropical paradises and sailing the peaceful seas can be a calming experience.
Australia is the perfect holiday destination for anyone that likes nature, action and adventure. 2023 could be the year to make the trip, with the solar eclipse set to be an astonishing sight with Australia being the only place to experience this unique solar event. Of course, there are plenty of other ways to stay busy and entertained on a trip to Australia with the ideas in this post being just a few highlights that adventure seekers will love.
