Athina Luxury Suites is a beautiful hotel in Fira Town, Santorini that offers stunning views of the Caldera from their sun terrace. This Cycladic-style accommodation has 19 suites, a swimming pool, fantastic staff and a level of hospitality that goes above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable.
A friend of mine recommended Athina Luxury Suites to me and I fell in love as soon as I saw pictures. What I loved most from the photos was the view of Thira and the sea. So I decided to book my stay and head to Santorini for my first visit to this extraordinary Greek Island. This island has always been on my bucket list because of the high cliffs, white houses and blue sea.
I chose to stay for two nights in Oia – so I could get up early in the morning and take photos there before the crowds – and one night in Thira (Athina Luxury Suites). I knew that many people book accommodation in the villages by the sea, so they can be close to the beach. However, I wanted to take photos of Oia and Thira, so I chose to stay there to get around easily.
My Experience at Athina Luxury Suites
I would describe Athina Luxury Suites as a beautiful hotel with fantastic views of Thira and the Caldera. The rooms here are luxurious and they have private jacuzzis with stunning views, all while being centrally located in Thira. One thing I loved was the delicious breakfast that was served on the private balcony. The staff really made you feel welcomed and satisfied.
We stayed in the Superior Suite which was newly built in 2019 with fresh materials, minimal and luxurious decorations, a king size double bed and a private balcony with an outdoor jacuzzi. The suite had incredible volcano views, sunset views and sea views. Athina Luxury Suites offers many other rooms such as the Petit Cave Suite and the Honeymoon Suite.
Some of the hotel facilities outside the suites include a large pool area with a pool bar and restaurant, and a spa facility. Overall, I would highly recommend staying at Athina Luxury Suites. I had a wonderful time and would rate my stay as a 10/10 experience – mainly due to the private jacuzzi, delicious breakfast, nice rooms and the central location in Thira, Santorini.
Need to Know Before you Go
As I mentioned earlier, one of the biggest reasons for my visit to Santorini was that I wanted to take photos. Therefore, it was important for me to know that there would be many tourists on the island and my best bet would be to wake up early and take photos before the mid-day rush. That is why I chose to stay centrally in Oia and Thira, so I could get around easily.
Another tip is to book a table for dinner, as you might risk your preferred restaurant being all booked for the night (especially around sunset). The sunsets in Santorini are truly spectacular and being at a nice restaurant is a great way to experience golden hour with some good wine and food.
My final tip is to be aware that Athina Luxury Suites has many stairs to get down to the hotel. You should flag this in case you have difficulty walking down stairs or have problems with your knees. This is important to know.
